SLJ- Summer landscape🌴

Today for the Summer Learning Journey we had to create a Summer landscape with Gradients. We could have made our own or we could have made a copy of a template already made for us. I tried to make my own but it was too hard so I made a copy of the template. It was fun to make the colours.

My Dodge ball team T-shirt Design👕

This week we got put into teams of 5 for Dodge ball to compete against other teams. My group name is ‘A team’ and the people in my group are: Despina, Kiara, Koby, Beau and ME. So far we have 3 points from 2 games and we are last place but that doesn’t matter. For my T-shirt design I put a large circle in the middle with an A in it, then I put fire around that circle coloured in Red and Yellow just like the collar.

Bearded dragon visit🦎

On the 5th of December we had a visitor in our class. The visitor was a bearded dragon with its owners. First we all sat in a circle then waited for them to come. Once they came the bearded dragon got put in the middle of the circle to look at. The owners told the class all about the bearded dragon and some facts. The bearded dragon’s name was Echo. The owner also went round the circle to see and touch Echo, he felt very spiky.

My superhero – SLJ

Today we signed up for the Summer learning journey and did a task on it. The task was to create your own superhero that relates to your surroundings on Craiyon.  I did the sea because where I live is near the beach and I like swimming in the sea. I also like dogs so I decided to create a dog superhero who swims in the sea. We also had to say about the superhero and all the stuff you need to know.

 

Here is mine:

Name: Captain woof

Lives:  New Brighton

Family: Dad (Dog), Mum (Dog)

Transportation: Swimming, walking

Enemy: Dave the octopus

Friends: Bob the fish, Kevin the stingray

Ability: Super fast swimming, Can go invisible, Fly

Weakness: Fire, lava

Weapons: Boomerang

Challenges:  Being near heat, Staying outside water for too long

Beach Ed🏖

Last week on Thursday we went down to the north beach for the whole day to learn about the beach and about lifeguards and what they do and all that stuff. We also at the end got to swim in the sea with boogie boards. The Instructors names were: Jem, Ben, Annie and Emma.

The first thing we did when we got there was to learn about the objects that they use to save lives.

After learning about that we learnt about the IRB (Inflatable rescue boat). The IRB had all sorts of stuff on it like a wedged knife just in case seaweed gets caught in the motor.

Then once we did all that stuff we had to make a skit about one of the rules they taught us:

  • Never swim alone
  • Swim between the flags
  • If you get caught in a RIP Rest, Raise and Ride
  • If in doubt stay out!
  • Call 111 (police) if there are no no life guards around
  • Slip on rash tops, Slap on sunscreen  , Slop on a hat, Wrap on sunglasses, Seek for shelter

(We did If in doubt stay out).

We also did Beach games like who can dig the deepest hole and who can make the highest mountain of sand. It was fun.

When we finished everything we finally got to swim in the sea!

Copyright poster

Today we have been learning about copyright and what it is. Copyright means when you can copy someone else’s work and the owner allows it. The opposite of copyright is Using someone else’s work without asking them which is mean. Our task was to create a poster of what copyright is.

Stewardship

Today we learnt about stewardship. We learnt that it means to look after the environment and community. Our task was to put at least 3 Ideas on what we can do to help Our class, Our school, Our house and our community.

My creative sentences

This week we have been writing sentences about a word, but today we had 3 to choose from.

The words we had to choose from were:  Shimmied, Swayed and Jived.  I choose Swayed.

This is the sentence I wrote:

The leaves crunched in the cold gentle breeze, on the tall swaying tree.

Math Reflection

For the last 2 weeks we have been learning how to figure out times tables for example 18×9.  We had to pick a question from the board then show how to figure it out.

This is what I did:

What I did was:

18×9= ?

10×9= 90

8×9= 62

Then you add one to the 8 and one in front of the answer that makes the 8 into 18 and the answer to that question is 162!

The toys take over🧸

This term we have been working on a piece of writing called the toys take over. Everyone got a template to work on and we all had to write a story about the toys take over. Mine was about the forest pals (One of my book series) having a play date then Fern (one of the characters) got some new toys. The old toys were jealous so they decided to take over.
