Last week on Thursday we went down to the north beach for the whole day to learn about the beach and about lifeguards and what they do and all that stuff. We also at the end got to swim in the sea with boogie boards. The Instructors names were: Jem, Ben, Annie and Emma.

The first thing we did when we got there was to learn about the objects that they use to save lives.

After learning about that we learnt about the IRB (Inflatable rescue boat). The IRB had all sorts of stuff on it like a wedged knife just in case seaweed gets caught in the motor.

Then once we did all that stuff we had to make a skit about one of the rules they taught us:

• Never swim alone
• Swim between the flags
• If you get caught in a RIP Rest, Raise and Ride
• If in doubt stay out!
• Call 111 (police) if there are no no life guards around
• Slip on rash tops, Slap on sunscreen  , Slop on a hat, Wrap on sunglasses, Seek for shelter

(We did If in doubt stay out).

We also did Beach games like who can dig the deepest hole and who can make the highest mountain of sand. It was fun.

When we finished everything we finally got to swim in the sea!

Today we have been learning about copyright and what it is. Copyright means when you can copy someone else’s work and the owner allows it. The opposite of copyright is Using someone else’s work without asking them which is mean. Our task was to create a poster of what copyright is.

Today we learnt about stewardship. We learnt that it means to look after the environment and community. Our task was to put at least 3 Ideas on what we can do to help Our class, Our school, Our house and our community.

This week we have been writing sentences about a word, but today we had 3 to choose from.

The words we had to choose from were:  Shimmied, Swayed and Jived.  I choose Swayed.

This is the sentence I wrote:

The leaves crunched in the cold gentle breeze, on the tall swaying tree.

For the last 2 weeks we have been learning how to figure out times tables for example 18×9.  We had to pick a question from the board then show how to figure it out.

This is what I did:

18×9= ?

10×9= 90

8×9= 62

Then you add one to the 8 and one in front of the answer that makes the 8 into 18 and the answer to that question is 162!

This term we have been working on a piece of writing called the toys take over. Everyone got a template to work on and we all had to write a story about the toys take over. Mine was about the forest pals (One of my book series) having a play date then Fern (one of the characters) got some new toys. The old toys were jealous so they decided to take over.

On the 19th of September we had a class reward and we all chose to go to Alice in putter land. That is a place where you can do mini golf but the theme is Alice in wonderland. We got put into groups of 4 and my group was Me, Despina, Koby and Kiara. It was so fun! I came second place and Despina came first.

This week we have been working on feelings and moods. We had to make 16 different moods or feelings but four of them needed to be our faces. For 8 of them I made them custom emojis but another 4 of them was my brother, obviously I was the last 4.

On the 14th of September we had an art show where all of the classes had to do a couple pieces of art each then kid’s from all classes get’s to see everyone’s work. It was 5:30 till 7:00 and we had 2 cool guests. Their names were Katie Stevenson and Mary Goulding and Katie used to go to our school but now she is a news reporter. Mary was a basketball player for New Zealand, which was the Tall Ferns.

When you head into the gate of the school you should have gotten a green card where all of the teachers have to sign when you’ve been through that class. Once you go through them all you get put in a draw for winning a prize. I got put in the draw but I didn’t get picked out… Well I thought I did because one name that got picked was Jon and that was my dads name and he got put in the draw but he didn’t because he put his last name in it.

What is your favourite type of art?

This week we have been reading Maui the sun catcher. The book wasn’t like the actual legend because instead of hitting the sun over and over he told the sun how awesome he was then asked him to move slower.  Once we read the book our task was to recreate the part where Maui has caught the sun.

This was super hard to make because I don’t have a touch screen and my fingers hurt from dragging them so much. I made this on sumo paint.
