Fish art

A few weeks ago everyone in room 9/10 painted their own design on a wooden fish, and then when they were all done they would get hung up on a wall in new Brighton next to couplands. I tried to do a beach but there was no white to separate the sand from the sea, so it just looks like a yellow and blue gradient fish.

Edge of the Poppy – Creative writing

Today we wrote a short paragraph based on a photo then asked chatgpt to make it better. After we finished doing that we asked AI image generator to make a picture to go with the story.

Here is my story before:

It’s too late, I’m doomed. I sat on the end of the red poppy out of breath with no escape from the praying mantis and it doesn’t really help that my wing is broken and unable to move. The mantis stared at me with its menacing eyes, slowly creeping towards me ready to pounce at any moment now. “What do I do, what do I do?” I thought to myself, darting my eyes around looking for an answer to my question. I continued to look for an escape as the mantis grew closer and closer to me. When I was about to give up and accept my fate, I heard the sound of flapping wings so I looked up and saw my friends flying at the Praying mantis trying to get it to run away.  They flew right into the Praying mantis, pushing him off rose, what followed still haunts my nightmares.

And after:

It was too late. I was doomed. Perched at the edge of a red poppy, out of breath and paralyzed by fear, I had nowhere to run. My wing—broken, useless—hung limply at my side. And the praying mantis, with its cold, unblinking eyes, crept toward me, inch by inch, poised to strike. “What do I do? What do I do?” I panicked, eyes darting in every direction, desperate for an escape that didn’t exist. The mantis loomed closer, its spiked limbs shifting with eerie precision. The world seemed to hold its breath alongside me. Just as I was about to surrender to the inevitable, I heard it—fluttering wings cutting through the air. I looked up. My friends. They came diving out of the sky, fearless, wings flashing in the sunlight. In a blur of movement, they struck the mantis, driving it off the rose with sheer force. It tumbled into the shadows below. What happened next still haunts my dreams.

Fish Art – Draft

This week we have been working on making a design on a fish to go on a wall in New Brighton. I decided to draw a beach design to match with New Brighton’s beach and I also added a person chilling on the beach with an umbrella and a beach ball.

Here it is:

Hatchet activity

This week we have been reading a class novel called Hatchet and it’s about a thirteen year old boy who goes on a plane to see his dad but it crashes and he has to survive in the forest alone. At the moment we’re at chapter 5 and the plane just crashed. Anyway we did some activities while we listened to the story and one of them was drawing what we thought Brian (The main boy) looked like, then added labels.

Algebra poster

This term we have been learning about Algebra and today we made a poster about something we learned. I did mine about GEMA which is something to help you solve equations.

My mythical creature – Writing

This week we have been learning about mythical creatures and then writing a story of our own mythical creature. I did a description of my mythical creature first then made a story. My writing is about 2 Dracorns (Dragon+Unicorn) going on adventures.

Here is my story:

A Female Dracorn is basically a sky blue dragon with a glittery unicorn horn and a Blue unicorn tail instead of the normal dragon tail. It also has a little bit of fuzz on its scales that feels just like a peach. A male Dracorn is basically the same thing as a female but it has dark blue tips on its ears. Only two of these creatures can exist at a time and no one has ever seen one before because they usually live high up in the fluffy white clouds or in the tall mountains. Most people believe that the Dracorns are scary and kills anything that comes across it, but they are actually really sweet and calm creatures that means no harm to humans.

Anyway, One very rainy day a young Dracorn was struggling to fly in the strong cold breeze and rain going in her eyes stopping her from seeing where she was going. She was just trying to get back to her cave on the side of a large mountain now that she had found a couple apples from a nearby apple tree. As she was fighting against the strong wind, a humongous drop of rain splashed in her eye caused her to accidentally drop the 2 apples from her sharp claws and she didn’t even realise.

She finally made it back to her warm, cozy cave when she suddenly realized that she no longer had possession of her apples. “Oh, come on. All that hard work for nothing.” She said disappointedly. BOOM Went the thunder. The weather was getting a lot worse and she no longer has anything to eat. “Who knows how long this storm is going to last and I have no food at all.” Mumbled the Dracorn. She walked over to her leaf bed and layed down with her chin resting on her claw.

To be continued

The lochness monster – Description writing

For the past week we have been writing about a mythical creature called the lochness monster, that originated from Scotland. Then we made a picture on google drawing to go with our writing.

This is my writing:

The lochness monster

Its skin is as bumpy as the rocks on the ocean floor. It has sharp jagged teeth that can tear through human flesh. It has four long strong fins that helps the monster glide through the ocean waters and it has a pair of bright red eyes that glow. It’s twice the size of a blue whale and has a long tail that drags behind the monster when it swims. Its neck is three times the size of a giraffes and only comes out of the water at night.

How would you describe it?

School Swimming 2025

For the last 2 weeks we have been doing school swimming. First before we started swimming we got split into four groups depending on how good we are at swimming. I got put in the second highest group in the deepest and coldest pool. In the first week of school swimming we did regular lessons, learning all the different strokes like Backstroke, Freestyle, Breaststroke and Butterfly. In the second week we did all sorts of stuff with life jackets and boats. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we practiced how to get on and off a boat in an emergency and how to keep warm when your stuck in the middle of the ocean. We also learnt about how to save someone that is drowning. Then on Friday we wore our PJ’s over our togs and swam in them.

Here are some photos:

My favorite part was when we got to swim in our PJ’s and my least favorite was the Boat.
